About Ollie

Ollie is an ordinary schoolboy, with the same problems that we all have, that our children and grandchildren have and our friends have. Ollie started out as a character, created by Alison Knowles to help her clients. Ollie and his friends Mollie and Mr Wilcox proved so popular and effective that she turned her creation into a series of books and began training other therapists in the techniques she was using.

Ollie Coaching

Ollie coaching is a transformative approach to teach children, young people and adults that they can control how they feel.

Ollie teaches people that they have superpowers (your emotions) and that they can use them to change how they feel. The main concept behind this is the belief that we are all made up of different parts, and that we are not only happy, sad, angry or frustrated, only a part of us is. With Ollie’s strategies and techniques we all have the capacity to make happy bigger and make sad smaller. Who wouldn’t want to be more excited and less frightened about stuff! Whatever you want to feel instead doesn’t mean those parts are gone, we will always have a little bit of happy and sad and sometimes we need to feel a little bit of fear; BUT with Ollie we can learn to be much more in control of our emotions and feelings so that they don’t overwhelm us.

Children, young people and adults can learn all about Ollie and his superpowers and how they work from learning about the Magic Library which contains all the learning that has happened in the past in boxes, You can revisit the library whenever you want. There is a magic workshop to create things that will make your life easier and you can visit this whenever you need to, to help create a tool to support you. Ask Kirsty what the waifs are and how they limit you.

Ollie coaches don’t ‘fix’ people, they go one better by teaching you a whole range of strategies and techniques, alongside skills like developing emotional resilience and to learning how to deal with life’s challenges.

Ollie and Children

Ollie coaches are trained to get into their clients ‘model of the world’ – what the client does. Children are so imaginative and playful, just like Ollie, so coaches like to bring out this fun side. It may be fighting a blue dragon or flying like a butterfly whatever the child is wanting to be in their world we use. Teenagers still have their own ideas in their model of the world that they can bring too.

Ollie in Schools

Ollie coaches also work in schools and provide a range of services, all customised to your own individual school and its specific needs. This could be our popular assembly to introduce the Ollie concept. We also come into school to work with children on a one-to-one basis or in groups. We offer Ollie Mentor Training for Teachers and Ollie Kids has started recently. Ollie coaches work in school and privately to help with everything from anger and behaviour issues to phobias.

Only official Ollie Coaches are permitted to use the title ‘Ollie Coach’ and the ‘Ollie and his Superpowers’ logo. Please check the main Ollie website www.ollieandhissuperpowers.com where you will find fully qualified and DBS checked coaches.
